Join the One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge to have some creative fun with photos.
The purpose of the One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge is to play. These days we have so many different ways to process a photo: from phone apps to Photoshop. And these different software options make it accessible for anyone to get fun and beautiful effects. Whether you have a lot of time or a little.
I’ve been spending a lot of my pandemic playing with photo processing. Because it is a relaxing indoor activity that I can do for free (I mostly use open-source programs and old versions of paid programs). And I thought it might be fun to share what I’ve been doing and see what other folks are trying out.
No complicated rules, just:
- Pick a photo you want to play with.
- Process it using three different methods.
- After that create a blog post with the original and your creative products. Alternatively, if it is easier for you, you could post a gallery on Instagram with #tsc_1to3.
- If you can, please include a description of your methods. So others can give them a whirl.
- Then add a comment below containing the link to your post (pingbacks don’t work). So we can all see your creations.
- Check out what other folks are doing for new ideas.
I can hardly wait to see what you create.
September creations:
- Ink drops
- Serendipity Seeking Intelligent Life on Earth
- J.E. Goldie Writes
- Photos by Jez
- Xingfu Mama Blog
- This, that and the other
Here’s my one-to-three contribution for this month:
Big Blue in Flight
Directions for my methods:
This month I used Topaz Studio 2 to play with this photo of a great blue heron.
Before I started I processed the photo minimally in Raw Therapee, then took it into the GIMP to crop and resize it. Theoretically one can do those steps in RT but I find the controls awkward. Once in Topaz Studio 2 I applied the Denoise AI filter (this is a separate Topaz product that I use as a plug in.) and the Precision Contrast to bring out a bit more detail in the feathers.
For my first version I applied the Impressionist filter to give a painterly look.
In the next two versions I used the AI ReMix filter with two different mix pictures: Backroad Bliss with style strength on high and 66 % opacity; and Tranquil Retreat with style strength on high at 100 % opacity.
Hi Kate. You seemed to have missed my participation in the September prompt. No biggie, but here’s the link.

I seem to have the same problem as Fandango, my September photos are here:https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2022/09/01/goosey-goosey-gander/
From my side the pingback seems to work – but there is no accounting for wordpress, is there?
Anyway, talking September and talking your grey heron – it’s fun to play with birds, isn’t it? Although, I think your original is stunning and I prefer it to the others.
Here’s my entry for THIS month.

Hi, found this challenge in Cee’s post, sounded something like I’ll happily participated in, so here is my first entry: https://sillarit.com/2022/10/05/three-versions-of-three-onions/
