This is a flowering current, ribes sanguineum. A Pacific Northwest native plant that attracts humming birds. I was captivated by the emerging leaves. To me they look a bit like ruffles.
The one above is in a neighbor’s yard that the dog’s and I walk past most days. This one is well established and about six feet tall in total. I planted my own last year and it is about 15 inches tall, but it does have blooms coming on. You can see how much closer mine is to the ground.
