Join the One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge to have some creative fun with photos.
The purpose of the One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge is to play. These days we have so many different ways to process a photo: from phone apps to Photoshop. And these different software options make it accessible for anyone to get fun and beautiful effects. Whether you have a lot of time or a little.
I’ve been spending a lot of my pandemic playing with photo processing. Because it is a relaxing indoor activity that I can do for free (I mostly use open-source programs and old versions of paid programs). And I thought it might be fun to share what I’ve been doing and see what other folks are trying out.
No complicated rules, just:
- Pick a photo you want to play with.
- Process it using three different methods.
- After that create a blog post with the original and your creative products.
- If you can, please include a description of your methods. So others can give them a whirl.
- Then add a comment below containing the link to you post (pingbacks don’t seem to work, I’m trying to figure out why). So we can all see your creations.
- Check out what other folks are doing for new ideas.
I can hardly wait to see what you create.
October creations:
- Coolesse
- Pictures imperfect blog
- Coolesse-not a repeat!
- Cath’s Camera
Here’s my one-to-three contribution for this month:
Directions for my methods:
This month I played with this photo of the postmaster’s bike in Stehekin, Washington using the GIMP. I also used a couple GIMP plug-ins.
- I decided to see how this would look using the faux lens ball effect. The directions are in Faking it: a lensball effect using the GIMP. It’s kind of fun to do, and it’s a great way to learn about many features in the GIMP.
- This is just a simple application of the posterize filter in the G’mic plug-in for the GIMP. Posterize is found the the Artistic set of filters. I liked how it has a look similar to the old U.S. national park posters. Appropriate since Stehekin is in the North Cascades National Park.
- For this one I used stacked a black and white version (created using the Nik plug-in’s Silver Effects Pro, Antique Plate II preset) on top of the original and used the soft light blend mode.
Very interesting edits. I just learned how to do the ball shape on PS. This looks much better than mine ;/ I like the vintage, but I like them all.https://talesfrommylens.net/2021/10/31/one-to-three-8/
I like the vintage effect – which works particularly well because of the bicycle.

Thought I would join in this month. I like the posterize filter on yours.
