Join the One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge to have some creative fun with photos.
The purpose of the One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge is to play. These days we have so many different ways to process a photo: from phone apps to Photoshop. And these different software options make it accessible for anyone to get fun and beautiful effects. Whether you have a lot of time or a little.
I’ve been spending a lot of my pandemic playing with photo processing. Because it is a relaxing indoor activity that I can do for free (I mostly use open-source programs and old versions of paid programs). And I thought it might be fun to share what I’ve been doing and see what other folks are trying out.
No complicated rules, just:
- Pick a photo you want to play with.
- Process it using three different methods.
- After that create a blog post with the original and your creative products.
- If you can, please include a description of your methods. So others can give them a whirl.
- Then add a comment below containing the link to you post (pingbacks don’t seem to work, I’m trying to figure out why). So we can all see your creations.
- Check out what other folks are doing for new ideas.
I can hardly wait to see what you create.
February creations:
Here’s my contribution for this month:
Directions for my methods:
- In the G’mic plug-in for the GIMP I used the “graphic artist” filter located in the artistic set of filters.
- I converted the image to black and white in Raw Therapee, using the color equalizer of Black-and-White tool in the color tab. This post has information about using Raw Therapee for black and white conversions.
- This is a simple application of the Fur and feathers look in Topaz Studio 2.
I added the same vignette to all three of them in the GIMP before exporting.
I used the GIMP, an open-source (free) program comparable to Adobe’s Photoshop. If you are interested in trying the GIMP, check out my post: Get going with the GIMP.

I like the graphic artist in Gimp the best.
I like them all but the last is my favorite.
Here is my contribution. https://talesfrommylens.net/2021/03/01/1-to-3-4/
These are great. The first one really brings out the details in the shell. The colorful one is very cheerful. And that fish looking one at the end is super cool.
Love the graphic artist one the best, with the Topaz Studio 2 a close second 😃 More lensball editing from me this month: https://jezbraithwaite.blog/2021/03/03/one-to-three-photo-processing-challenge-march-2021/
The first violets in the snow – such a great theme for contrast. For the overall effect I prefer the Furs and Feathers effect but the graphic artist photo really shows off the colour texture in the violets themselves, and they are the star of the show!
