Puget Sound winter wavelets

Approaching the winter sunset, the shapes of the waves look frilly as they break on the sand flats at Fern Cove on Vashon Island.

When the wind blows from the north it gets pretty chilly and the Puget Sound water can get quite choppy, but as the tide goes out the waves abate and become wavelets instead of breakers. The low angle of the winter sun makes the textures and shapes of these wavelets stand out.
