Even though keeping dry can be a challenge, rainy season in Guilin China is lovely. And one really can’t complain (too much anyway), since the lush greenery relies on the rain. Guilin sits among dramatic karst hills. Even in the middle of the city, karst hills play peek-a-boo with you.
Guilin contains some of China’s best recognized scenery. Schedules forced us to make our journey during the rainy season over a Chinese national holiday (May 4).
On our first afternoon in town, we walked around the lakes in the center of the city. It didn’t rain on us and we eventually found a place to eat. Walking back to our hotel after dark, but not in the dark, along the well lit paths beside the lakes. A pavilion close to our hotel attracted local musicians.
