I arrived in Qufu in the late afternoon. Without time to start a tour of the famous San Kong (Three Kongs) and after the vast majority of tour groups had moved along to Taishan (a.k.a. Mount Tai or Mount Taishan). Many Chinese do Qufu and Mount Tai as an over-night trip where they end up watching the sun rise from the top of Mount Tai.
The feeling was a bit odd, a place ready for crowds yet surprisingly empty.
